Happy Birthday to you

Hello crafters.  Hope you had a lovely weekend. I had an enjoyable day of crafting today, just playing with different bits and pieces.  I ended up making a pretty card for this week's Pals Paper Arts challenge.

I had in mind a pretty background to colour in myself and this flourish stamp from Creative Elements was the perfect choice.  I used Soft Suede to stamp the image and to colour in the dots. For the rest of the colouring in I used Pink Pirouette, Pear Piazzaz and Wisteria Wonder.  To finish off and give a softer look, I sponged the edges with Pink Pirouette and matted the background on Whisper White card.

The butterfly was stamped with Versamark on Whisper White card and heat embossed with white embossing powder.  I then sponged over with the pink and green inks (emboss resist technique) and added pearls.  The flowers were topped off with punched flowers using one of the Itty Bitty punches and finished off with pearls.

Thank you for visiting and see you again soon x

Create a Cupcake on blocks

It's my granddaughter's birthday and I wanted to do something different for her birthday card. I came across a blocks card tutorial on youtube and this is my version, check out the papercrafter45 video here.

It's surprisingly easy to make, once you know how, and uses less cardstock and patterned paper than you'd think.  The card folds flat to fit in a 4 1/2" x 6" envelope and expands to stand as you see - measures 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" x 1 1/2"

I'm afraid the pink patterned paper I used for the squares and envelope is now retired.  I put Crystal Effects on the cherries and bows on the cupcake cases, with a light sprinkle of glitter on the bows. I used the Envelope Punch Board to make the envelope and pink paper bow on the back of the card . I think it's pretty cool.  Hope you like it.  Thanks for visiting x

Betsy's Blossom emboss resist technique

Hello crafters.  Hope you had a lovely weekend.  Mine was really busy, as usual.  I'm not complaining, just saying...

Here's an emboss resist technique we re-visited at last week's class.  It was a technique I taught at my very first class, except the stamp set used then was French Foliage - sadly now retired.  I think it works pretty well with this stamp from Betsy's Blossom.

Lots going on with this card, what with layered frames and banners on top of the emboss resist background.  Not to mention the pretty scalloped edge on the base card.  Well I had to try out my new purchase - the rotary track which transforms your Stampin' Trimmer into a rotary cutter, includes a straight edge blade. The decorative small scallop and tiny wave blades are sold separately.

Hope you like it.  Thank you for visiting x
