Blossom on a Doiley

I wanted to use one of the new paper doilies available in the spring/summer catalogue and this is the design I came up with. It was a make-n-take project I prepared for the hostess and guests at a recent Stampin' Up! party.

We used the Vine Street embossing folder to emboss the Bravo Burgundy layer.  You can earn this folder for FREE during Sale-a-Bration (SAB), which runs until 22nd March. Every £45 spend earns you a free SAB item.  There are seventeen to choose from! You can view all on offer via the link at the top of the right hand column. Scroll to page two of the flyer and zoom in to view in detail.

The stamped image is from Mixed Bunch stamp set, stamped in Bravo Burgundy and then punched out with the Blossom punch. I've been using the 'happy day to you' sentiment a lot lately, it's from Friendly Phrases stamp set. A lovely pearl finishes off the card nicely :)

More Elements of Style

One of my ladies at class asked if we could make a special anniversary card for her grandparents 60th wedding anniversary and this is the design I came up with.  We made this card last week, except Jen's card included the number 60 which I had cut with a BigShot die. I forgot to take a photo of her card and the numbers which were very pretty as I covered them with Crystal Effects and a light sprinkle of glitter.

The card itself is cut with the largest of the new Hearts Collection Framelits dies - a set of 6 layering dies. It's layered with Beau Chateau designer paper - cut with the second largest die. The Beau Chateau paper is no longer available, however, you can easily achieve the same look because that beautiful floral image is one of the stamps in the Elements of Style stamp set.  We used it to stamp the background in pink on the third heart and also on the heart inside the card.

I used the new 1 1/4" (3.2 cm) two-tone ribbon in Pink Pirouette/Rose Red for the knot, also available in Basic Gray/Basic Black.  As it's a wide ribbon, I folded it in half lengthwise first, tied the knot loosely and then teased the ends into shape as I gradually pulled tight.  The pretty glittery heart is punched out of the Silver Glimmer card which I coloured with my marker pen in Pink Pirouette.

You can just see the envelope finished off with the same floral image and bird from same stamp set - beautiful.

Elements of Style

I forgot about this pretty card and envelope.  One of the projects we made in January's class. It's a 6" square card folded as you see in the second photo.  I attached a heart at the point of each corner which when slotted one under the other as shown in the third photo is perfect for closing the card.

I finished off the custom made envelope by covering the flap with coordinating designer paper and a heart, stamped with the flourish stamp from Elements of Style stamp set.  I'll stamp an appropriate sentiment when I go to use the card depending on the occasion.

Products used:
Card and paper:  Whisper White, Pretty in Pink, Designer Series Paper Stack in Subtles
Inks: Bashful Blue and Pretty in Pink
Punch: Full Heart
Stamp Set: Elements of Style

Thank you for visiting.  Come back tomorrow, I have another heart card to show you x

Swallowtail

Just in time I think to enter Freshly Made Sketches #73 challenge.  I've used the Swallowtail stamp again, can't resist it. This is a 5.5" x 5.5" card - to give you an idea of the size of this stamp.

I used three of the 2012-2014 In Colors here, Midnight Muse, Summer Starfruit and Primrose Petals. The little heart is from the Owl Builder Punch and it's punched out of the Silver Glimmer Paper, coloured in with Primrose Petals marker .  Thank you for visiting.

Swallowtail partially stamped

I used Stampin' Pastels to lightly tint the wings of this partially stamped Swallowtail. As I said yesterday, this stamp is pretty big. I wanted to use my new Daffodil Delight seam binding ribbon hence this colour combo. That's not a brad on the head of the butterfly, it's a rhinestone but the camera doesn't pick up it's sparkle.

The inside of the card is finished off with the swallowtail stamped in daffodil delight, as is the front of the envelope. Thank you for visiting.

Swallowtail

This is a HUGE stamp. The Swallowtail is new in the spring/summer catalogue. Mine arrived on Thursday and I couldn't wait for the weekend to have a play with it and try out a couple of different techniques.  I created similar projects with smaller butterflies a while back - will post photos in a few days.

Anyways, back to this one, it's Chocolate Chip ink stamped on Bashful Blue card stock, twice. I fussy cut both then glued them together just at the body.  As you can see it stands beautifully.  Finished off with satin chocolate chip ribbon (retired) and a pearl. It can be used as a greeting card as there is enough space to write your message on the back.  This will fit in a C6 envelope, however it would be a good idea to put a piece of A6 card in the envelope too.

I usually try out ideas on cheap photocopy paper first and that's what the butterfly in the background is.  I used Stampin' Pastels to colour it, bear in mind the effect isn't so good on photocopy paper - it's just to get an idea... A project using that technique on a card coming soon. Thank you for visiting.

Happy day to you...

Happy Birthday Monica. Have a lovely day.

As you can see, I've been having a bit of fun with the sanding block and Core'dinations card.  Unfortunately, the Cherry Cobbler Core'dinations card and tulle ribbon aren't available anymore :(  - however, the good news is Pool Party, Primrose Petals and Real Red Core'dinations card stock are new and available in the spring/summer catalogue.

The Honeycomb embossing folder is also new in the spring/summer catalogue as is this beautiful designer builder brad.  The little bird image is from Itty Bitty stamp set and the greeting is from Friendly Phrases, both in the annual catalogue.

Have a lovely weekend. Thank you for visiting x

Parlour Prints Embossed

Whoo hoo it's nearly the weekend!

I made this card last weekend for a challenge and can't remember which one, d'oh.  I should have uploaded it right away.  It's probably too late now.  I'm into this white embossing technique at the moment and love the look of white on turquoise.

The background is stamped with the large Parlor Prints stamp with white craft ink then embossed with white embossing powder - Stampin' Up!'s ink and embossing powder of course - on to Tempting Turquoise card stock. The greeting is from Friendly Phrases stamp set.  I seem to be using that set a lot lately.

The card is finished off with Organza Ribbon, Designer Button, a butterfly from Beautiful Wings Embosslits and a pretty pearl.

I used a stamp, or two, from Stippled Blossoms to finish off the inside of the card.  Love that stamp set!  Thank you for visiting x

Mixed Bunch

I have to say I was REALLY pleased with this one. It's another we made in January's class.

It's the first time I've used white embossing powder on black card and I wish I'd not waited so long to do so.  Will definitely be using this technique again and again.

The flower stamp is from Mixed Bunch stamp set on page 94 and it has a coordinating punch, Blossom, on page 185.  Clever how the middle flower slots in the other two perfectly to close the card huh?

The background was stamped with stamps from the ever versatile French Foilage set on page 86.  Ribbon and pearls finishes off the card nicely.  Thank you for visiting.

Clockworks

This masculine card is one of the projects we made in class earlier this month. Sorry it's not a good photo, it's a bit tricky trying to get the lighting right.  The focus is not too good either.  Oh well you get the gist.  The card is much nicer in real life.

Again, everyone's  cards were different because the images, from Clockworks stamp set, were stamped randomly in Always Artichoke, So Saffron, Cajun Craze and Basic Black onto First Edition designer paper background.  The Happy Birthday greeting is from Itty Bitty Banners stamp set which has a coordinating set of three dies - Bitty Banners Framelits on page 191 of the annual catalogue.  Thank you for visiting.
