Fine Feathers and Happy Days

Okay, I'm back from a well deserved relaxing holiday in Spain. I stayed with a friend, part way up a mountain, no mobile phone signal and no Internet. Plenty of wine and stunning views - I'll have to post some photos, which I hope turned out okay.  I haven't had a chance to take a look yet.

In the meantime, I wanted to share these gorgeous cards made by lovely Anja. She used  Fine Feathers stamp set here and Happy Days stamp set further down.  Both sets will be retiring on Monday 30th June.

You still have time to order retiring products if you're quick.  I will be placing a final order for retiring items, subject to availability, tomorrow evening 30th June.  Contact me as soon as possible if you don't want to miss out:  jenz.crafts@yahoo.com

Cutest Baby Ever

A second post to share today.  I wanted to make a baby card and the Tall & Skinny sketch on Mojo Monday inspired me to make this card.  I have time to enter so here we go.

The card measures 3 1/2" x 6" and it will need an envelope for a 4" x 6" card because of the banner overhang.

The giraffe is from Zoo Babies stamp set and the greeting from the Label Love set.  The Gingham is a wheel, and it's on the retiring list - at a reduced price too.  Retiring products will be available until 30th June or while supplies last. Click on the Retiring List tab above to view what's left in the retiring stamps and accessories lists.

Zoo Review Reflection

Hello crafters.  Here's another technique I taught in class.  This is my first attempt at doing the reflection technique - not a bad first time result me thinks ;)

I know it's been done lots with Lovely as a Tree stamp set, and very lovely too, but I wanted to use something different, hence the zebra from Zoo Review stamp set. Poor zebra kept getting called giraffe in class.  Once we got giraffe in our heads that was it.  Hey ho, it was fun anyway.

I'm sure many of you will have seen this technique done before.  First I stamped the zebra on Whisper White card with Chocolate Chip ink. I re-inked and then stamped the image on a piece of acetate, or similar material. You need to use a water based ink as it will stau wet enabling you to transfer the image on to your card.  After stamping on the acetate, I flipped the acetate over and lined up the image directly beneath the zebra on the card. I carefully rubbed over the acetate to transfer the impression on to my card to create the reflection.  It will come out lighter and that's what you want.

I used my aqua painter to paint the water with Marina Mist ink, the sky with Soft Sky and green area with Pear Pizzazz.  I added a few horizontal streaks to the water with my white chalk marker.

You may have noticed the zebra kinda stands out on the card.  I achieved that by lightly outlining the image with my Sahara Sand marker.

The tree is from Serene Shilouettes stamp set.  I inked it with Pear Pizzaz and then used my Chocolate Chip marker to colour the tree trunk and branches before stamping.  The greeting and little banner are from Perfect Pennants stamp set, on page 27 of the spring/summer catalogue.

Hope you like it. Thank you for visiting x
